Abstract

This paper deals with the possibility to model two biosynthesis processes (alpha-amylase and protease production by Bacillus subtilis in batch culture and the accumulation process of the proteic mass from superior mushroom mycelium of Polyporus type in a batch bioreactor). Two kind of models are presented: the first is a structural - functional one, based on the biochemical reaction mechanism and the second uses artificial intelligence techniques combining fuzzy, neural and neuro-fuzzy techniques. Both models have been fitted with experimental data, offered by the Food Research Institute from Bucharest. In this paper is also presented an optimal control algorithm for batch bioreactors.
