Abstract

Traditionally, high-end Digital Signal Processors are used toimplement nonlinear controllers for power converters.  In this paperit is discussed why is necessary to do so and it is shown that ifnonlinear controllers are designed to be simple to implement from thebeginning then it is possible to implement it using low-costmicro-controllers.  Instead of trying to overcome the problems thatarise due to digital implementation, a controller that achieve anacceptable performance even for slow sampling time is employed.Following this path, it is shown that very efficient, reliable,low-cost, low-power devices for massive applications can be produced.
