Modelling and Simulation of a Fermentation Fed-batch Bioprocess via Bond Graph Approach

Abstract


This work addresses the modelling and simulation of a baker's yeast process taking place inside a fed-batch bioreactor. The modelling procedure is based on the pseudo Bond Graph approach, and the simulation is performed by using 20sim modelling and simulation environment. First, a Bond Graph model of a prototype fed-batch bioprocess is obtained, starting from the reactions schemes and taking into account the biochemical phenomena. Then, the method is systematically applied on a complex baker's yeast fed-batch bioprocess, widely used in bio-industry. Also, numerical simulations are performed and several comparisons are presented.
